Who is Charis?
I once heard grace defined as “love in action.”
Welcome to Charis – my love in action. Also Greek for grace. I am Sarah, founder and CEO.
Charis combines my loves of helping the community, writing, and nonprofit management, and puts them all into action.
At Charis, we help community organizations advance their missions.
Whether it’s creating a great fundraising appeal, strategy recommendations, or coaching you to build successful fundraising and/or grants programs, Charis will help take your organization to the next level.
I have over 20 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector. From volunteer to intern; direct service professional to program manager; and operations and fund development roles, I know what it takes to run an effective nonprofit organization.
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Johnson & Wales University and a Master of Science degree in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University. For eleven years, I worked as a victim advocate in the criminal justice system in Rhode Island, supporting victims of abuse before being promoted to an administrative role writing and managing grants.
For over eight years, I have helped nonprofits increase support and awareness to help them do their important work. I led and managed multiple nonprofit administrative programs, including fundraising, special events, communications, volunteers, and grants management programs. I have a proven track record, helping many organizations in the state raise millions of dollars.
